The season’s almost over and it might just go out with a
bang. Scottie returns and she teams up with Harvey to take down Folsome Foods,
one expensive case at a time sans trouble of course. They commence with the
most problematic one to throw Hardman off guard. This proves to be the alliance’s
“Normandy” hence the title. Although, the World War II reference seems a bit
misplaced, considering the belligerents are two entire firms versus one
contract lawyer, it highlights the drama of the legal battle and foreshadows the
ferocity of the other impending cases.
While Pearson (formerly Pearson Hardman) faces off with
Folsome, we also catch a glimpse of some internal turmoil. Katrina and Mike don’t
get along on the case (totally saw that coming) with the former apparently taking
credit for the latter’s work. Things get complicated when we find out that
Rachel didn’t get into Harvard. She immediately becomes depressed and questions
her own amour-propre, regressing back to Mike for comfort. This in turn leaves
her vulnerable to the inexcusable crime of not working (sarcasm) and Katrina’s deception.
The deal is sealed when an internal e-mail is discovered
leading to the startling conclusion that the big cheese of Fulsome only hired
the female manager of Parkville/Normandy because of her inability to conceive a
child. Here it is implied she takes the firm’s side.
So Hardman loses this one, and all is well right? Not
exactly. It turns out Scottie’s boss and Jessica are in talks of a merger,
which is how the guy found out about Hardman’s embezzlement legally. Harvey is
vehemently opposed because it means his name might not get on the wall. Louis
attempts to get Rachel admitted only to fail. These events all set the stage for
the next episode where all this pressure may break loose.
