The plot picks off almost immediately after Daryl and Merle’s
departure. The brothers help rescue a Hispanic group from a herd of walkers and
then get into an argument over Merle’s behavior. Daryl decides to head back to
the prison leaving Merle in the woods. Glenn, who is now acting as the leader,
plans to secure the main breach in the prison and later heads to Woodbury
alone. There is obvious tension between him and Maggie but it may be resolved
soon.
Herschel goes to see Sherriff Looney who is aimlessly
walking around the prison and the two of them talk about when he will return. Meanwhile,
Axel and Carol keep lookout but then suddenly BAM, Axel’s down. A firefight
then ensues between The Governor’s band and Rick’s and one of them is taken
down. By the way, where in the world is Tyresse’s group? Are they in another
part of the prison or did they leave? Will they come back after hearing the
gunshots?
A van full of walkers then bursts into the prison, releasing
its payload. But here’s the twist: The Governor and his men could have easily
finished off the group with the walkers’ help, however they decide to leave. The
prison is now dealing with the aftermath of this chaos and Glenn comes back,
along with Daryl and Merle. They don’t know what to do, but it’s clear that a
war has begun.
This episode created some of the most suspenseful scenes in
the entire season. It was also very unpredictable as noted with the ending.
What will happen next? Of course we’ll find out in the next episode “I Ain’t a
Judas”. There was some good character development as well; we saw more of
Milton and learned more about The Governor’s tactics. I was really starting to like Axel more and
it’s unfortunate that he had to die. But, we have Merle now to make up for that
loss so it all works out in the end.
